Sites like YouTube and Metacafe aren't the only players when it comes to video or tv on the internet. A new site that is starting to gain momentum is Joost (not pronounced as the Dutch proper name, but rather as 'juiced'), with as its tagline "TV, the way you want it". This "how-it-should-be-tv" website is the latest project from the people behind online successes such as Kazaa and Skype. If you want to find out more about Joost, be sure to check out its website.
At the moment the project is still being beta tested, which means you can only actually use the product if you receive an invitation from an existing user (as with Gmail in its early stages, this is probably partly being done to feed the hype...). Should anyone be interested, I have three invites to give out; just reply to this post or send me an e-mail.
Music videos on the internet...
On a different but related note, one excellent source for online concert videos in very good sound quality (and acceptable video quality, as long as you don't blow the image up to full screen) is Fabchannel.com. Full versions of concerts by artists and bands as diverse as Arcade Fire, Explosions in the Sky, Do Make Say Think, Patrick Wolf, Ani DiFranco, Bright Eyes, The Fun Lovin' Criminals, Damien Rice, Therapy?, British Sea Power, John Cale, Low, Zita Swoon, The Pipettes, The Cold War Kids, and many many more are available for live streaming free of charge. Here's Junior Boys for instance:
